Robert Salter, husband of Jane Salter, founded the predecessor organization in 1998 (The Holy Shroud Institute) and the successor and current organization, The Shroud of Turin Institute, in 2012.
Robert Joseph Salter was born on April 10, 1947 in Staten Island, NY. He married Jane E. Gibson, his beloved wife in 1977. Together they raised four daughters. His family was one of his greatest treasures. Bob was a devout Catholic and his faith was a key part of his personality. He passed into eternal life, while peacefully asleep, at his home, on January 26, 2020.
RESOLVED, we, both the old Members and Board, as well as the new Members and Board, hereby honor Robert Joseph Salter, founder of the Shroud of Turin Institute, as husband, father, and faithful Catholic. "Eternal rest grant him, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace."
